The San Mateo County Midcoastal Region — the “Coastside” — is made up of a handful of rural and semi-rural oceanside communities nestled between the Santa Cruz Mountains and the majestic Pacific Ocean, just 45 minutes from the San Francisco Bay Peninsula and Silicon Valley. There are 30,000 residents and over 600 local businesses in the region.

Whether you are here in person or visiting virtually, you have arrived at a truly remarkable location. The climate is wonderfully temperate – 30 inches of rain per year with temperatures reliably between 40 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit (4-24 degrees Celsius) . Hot days are rare. Due to the marine weather and airflow patterns, the coastal air quality is consistently much better than that seen in nearby urban and metropolitan cities.

The area is central to a broad range of world-class activities and environments.  Skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains, wine tasting and epicurean dining in the Napa Valley, the scenic splendor of Yosemite National Park, and the natural wonder of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary – all are available as single-day adventures in Northern California.
