Season of Giving: Marin Brokerage Puts Community First

Agents Make Holiday Season Brighter for Those in Need

Home is where the heart is, and real estate professionals at Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty know this well. In the spirit of the holiday season, our brokerage focused on our community, aiding local families and persons in need. Each of our nine offices had agent-organized donations to help the distinctive communities they serve professionally within Marin.

Charitable donations included a range of recipients, from families in need, to children with cancer, to aid for the impoverished. The brokerage’s Ross Valley and Greenbrae offices joined Marin’s Adopt-A-Family program, aiding families in need and purchasing essential items and gifts from each family’s “wish list”.

In Belvedere and Tiburon, agents raised funds for Dec My Room UCSF, an organization that decorates the rooms of children in long-term hospital stay battling different types of cancer. In Novato, a warm coat drive was organized in partnership with One Warm Coat, donating 134 used garments to the Ritter Center in San Rafael, as well as 10 new children’s coats to the Sparkle Foundation.

The Mill Valley offices raised donations to the Marin City Recreation Program, Performing Stars of Marin and direct contributions were also collected to aid a quadriplegic woman, and the San Rafael office raised money and contributed gifts to help a single mother with two-jobs and six children.

The brokerage’s executive office made donations to SHARE (Special Human-Animal Relationships) at the Marin Humane Society for the Pet Care Assistance program which provides assistance to low-income seniors and their pets.

“We are incredibly proud and humbled by the compassion of our agents and their unyielding support for our community and those in need. In our daily life, we have the good fortune of working in one of the most affluent areas in the country, yet there are many people in need, right here, where we live and work. The social consciousness of our agents is inspiring,” says Kevin Daniel Dwyer, Creative Director of the brokerage.

Sausalito’s 10th Annual Gingerbread House Tour

gingerbread

Nothing conjures up warm feelings of Holiday cheer more than a gingerbread house trimmed with white frosting snow, candy cane fences, and gumdrop roof shingles. This December marks the 10th anniversary of the Sausalito Gingerbread House Tour sponsored by the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce. Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to be a tour sponsor and passionately stands by the tour’s mission – providing a cost-free way for Bay Area families and residents to capture the magic of the holidays throughout the entire month of December.

The real estate agents from our downtown Sausalito office, Camara Scremin, Nadine Greenwood, Deborah Fletcher, and Eckart Noack invite you to stop by and view the amazingly constructed gingerbread mountain, replicating a Sausalito street scene overview including well-known buildings on Bridgeway, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sausalito Ferry, Marin Headlands lighthouse and a licorice car driving down Alexander and our own iconic (and newly named) Robin Williams Tunnel.

“Make sure to stop at 211 2nd Street, Sausalito in the Old Town neighborhood to view the amazing details of our Gingerbread Display,” Camara Scremin notes. “We will also have tour maps highlighting the other 35 Sausalito businesses that have their own festive gingerbread houses on display. Bring the whole family for a wonderful (and free) holiday experience.”

Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty and Adopt A Family of Marin Help Make the Holidays a Little Brighter for Marin Families

Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty and Adopt A Family of Marin Help Make the Holidays a Little Brighter for Marin Families

Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty offices partnered with Adopt A Family of Marin to make the holidays a little brighter for local Marin families.

“Each one of our seven locations adopted a family through Adopt A Family of Marin,” said Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty Chief Operating Officer Heidi Pay. “And each one stepped up to the plate for a wonderful cause.”

Judy LeMarr, one of the top Realtors® in the Ross Valley office and an Event Chair for the Ross Valley Women’s League, organized the gift drive for the company, inviting her fellow agents to open their hearts to families and children in the Marin community. “Staff and agents alike have said this effort is what got them in the Christmas spirit this year. Adopt a Family served over 450 families this year with their holiday program. This is just one of the outreach efforts they have to help keep families from becoming homeless in Marin.”

Adopt A Family of Marin is a local non-profit whose overall goal is to prevent homelessness and provide stability for poor and low-income families in crisis in Marin County. They accomplish this through a number of programs designed to support local families emotionally and financially. Adopt A Family Board Director, Top Producer and Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty Luxury professional Sylvie Zolezzi was thrilled with the results, “I couldn’t have been happier. Adopt A Family of Marin helped over 450 families in Marin which is the most the non-profit had done to date. It means that much more that my fellow colleagues were so dedicated to such worthy cause.”

Thank you to all those who participated and we look forward to continuing the tradition next year. If you would like further information about Adopt A Family of Marin and how they assist the Marin community visit www.adoptafamily.org or call 415.456.7805
